Q. How does my child join?

Q. Can I enter a Child before the competition starts?

A. Yes. Please go to the online sign on link at the ‘Registration’ tab and follow the instructions.

Q. Can I use the ‘ACTIVE KIDS’ $50 Voucher to register?

Yes! Complete the online registration and submit the voucher details, this can all be done online.

Q. What is Active Kids?

The NSW Government will provide a $50 voucher to parents/guardians of school enrolled children. The $50 voucher can be used for registration and participation costs for sport and fitness activities.

The initiative aims to reduce barriers to participation and help change the physical activity behaviours of children and young people in NSW.

Q. Who is eligible to claim the voucher?

Every child (4.5 – 18 years’ old) enrolled in school from Kindergarten to Year 12 is eligible. This includes those who are home-schooled or enrolled in secondary school education at TAFE NSW.

Go to ‘Service NSW’ to obtain your Voucher.

Q. How long does the season run for?

A. 14 Weeks – 12 Rounds, 2 x Finals

Q. When is Oztag Played?

A. February – June– Term 1 and term 2 Autumn Season

A. August – December – Term and term 4 Spring Season

Q. What day is Junior Oztag Played?

A. Monday (High Schools) and Wednesday (Primary Schools)

Q. How much does Junior Oztag Cost?

A. A one off Registration fee of $130.00 per child per competition and a one off payment to Australian oztag of $15 per year.

Q. What gear does my child need to wear to play?

A. Every child needs to have Official Oztag Shorts to play (cost $35.00). Available at the admin desk in the clubhouse.

No metal or screw in stud type shoes allowed. Sandshoes are allowed but not recommended due to players not having a good grip.

Q. I have signed my child up to play Junior Oztag but don’t know what team he/she has been placed into?

A. We have a record of all players we have placed into teams. A list of individual players will be on the website, under the ‘Individuals’ Tab.

Q. Where do we find if games will be cancelled due to weather?

A. Details will be posted no later than 2.00pm on game days on our Facebook and Instagram Page.

Please be aware that if the Junior Competition needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather, it is done earlier than the Seniors, so schools can inform students before the end of the school day. If Juniors is called off, this does not necessarily mean Seniors is cancelled too.

Q. How long do the games go for?

A. Games run for 40 minutes (20 minutes halves).

Q. Am I able to register my child as an individual player?

A. Yes. Oztag helps place children individually into teams. We do our best to place your child into a team they will feel comfortable with, ie. with school mates.

Q. Does my childs school organise teams?

A. From 2026, some schools in Tamworth have approved Tamworth Oztag to arrange school teams on their behalf, if your child attends one of these schools they are required to register and play in their school teams. These teams are not co-ordinated by the school so please direct any questions to Tamworth Oztag. These teams will wear their sports shirts.

All other schools students must register in the individual team option and Tamworth Oztag will arrange a team for you.

Q. What divisions are available for my child to play in?

A. U5/6 (MiNiTaG)

B. MIXED: 8 Yrs & Under; 10 Yrs & Under; 12 Yrs, 14 Yrs & Under; 16 Yrs & Under.

Q. Will Semi & Grand Finals be played?

A. Finals are played in all Division’s from 8yrs and above.

MiNiTaG is non-competitive, so no scores are taken or points ladder kept.

Q. Who & What is a Delegate?

A. They are your Team & Our Team Contact. We have many parents that sign up as a delegate to help organize a team to pass on any game times or any relevant information concerning draws etc. You can express your interest in being a parent delegate on the registration form. In 2026, Tamworth Oztag ground staff will be assisting parent delegates with any concerns or queries on game day.

Q. Does Oztag provide Coaches?

A. Being a recreational sport, local Oztag does not have coaches however the parent delegates will be required to provide education and support to players on how to play oztag correctly. The parent delegates will be provided with assistance from our ground staff with this and also assist with substitutions so all players have equal game time.

Q. Will my child need to be graded?

A. Depending on team entries, Divisions will be graded by the committee based on game results.

Q. Does my child need to attend training each week?

A. No training days are scheduled for players. It is up to individual teams to arrange their own training days if they choose to do so. The majority of team’s do not train at all.

Q. Is their Representative pathways in Oztag?

A. Yes. Trials are held each year, usually at the end of Term 3 for players interested in playing in their division at the following years State Cup to be held in February for both Boys and Girls divisions.

Squads are selected from 2 Trial Days, players are expected to attend at least 1 of these trials.
