Q. How does my child join?
A. There is an online sign on link on this website so you can do it straight away. You can come down to sign on at The Registration Day, or some schools organise teams and send home notes. Please refer to the dates on the ‘Registration’ tab.

Q. Can I enter a Team/Child before sign on?

A. Yes. Please go to the online sign on link at the ‘Registration’ tab and follow the instructions. If signing online all paperwork will be completed automatically and your membership will be activated. If registering at the ground OR using the Active Kids Voucher, you must still register your child online.

Q. Can I use the ‘ACTIVE KIDS’ $100 Voucher to register?

Yes! Complete the online registration and submit the voucher details, this can all be done online OR at the ground.

Q. What is Active Kids?

The NSW Government will provide a $100 voucher to parents/guardians of school enrolled children. The $100 voucher can be used for registration and participation costs for sport and fitness activities.

The initiative aims to reduce barriers to participation and help change the physical activity behaviours of children and young people in NSW.

Q. Who is eligible to claim the voucher?

Every child (4.5 – 18 years’ old) enrolled in school from Kindergarten to Year 12 is eligible. This includes those who are home-schooled or enrolled in secondary school education at TAFE NSW.

It will not be means tested and one voucher will be available for every child in the family annually over the next four years.

Q. What paperwork do I have to fill out?

A. The team delegate needs to print out a team sheet and complete

New Players can also register online, all registration details will be completed during the sign on process and a team delegate must submit a team sheet 1 week before games commence. Team sheets can be printed from the ‘Registration’ tab.

Q. How long does the season run for?

A. 14 Weeks – 2 Trial Games, 12 Rounds, 2 x Finals

Trial 1 is Wed Feb 16th (Primary School) and Thu Feb 17th (High School) 2022. and Grand Finals are played in December. (Terms 3 and 4 off)

Q. When is Oztag Played?

A. February – April – Term 1 Summer Season

A. October – December – Term 4 con’t Summer Season

Q. What day is Junior Oztag Played?

A. Wednesday (Primary Schools) and Thursdays (High Schools)

Q. How much does Junior Oztag Cost?

A. A one off Registration fee of $120.00 per child. (14 weeks of competition)

Q. What gear does my child need to wear to play?

A. Every child needs to have Official Oztag Shorts to play (cost $30.00). Available at the admin desk in the clubhouse. A playing shirt is included in the registration.

No metal or screw in stud type shoes allowed. Sandshoes are allowed but not recommended due to players not having a good grip.

Q. I have signed my child up to play Junior Oztag but don’t know what team he/she has been placed into?

A. We have a record of all players we have placed into teams. A list of individual players will be on the website, under the ‘Individuals’ Tab.

Q. Where do we find if games will be cancelled due to weather?

A. Details will be posted on this website no later than 2.00pm on game days and also on our Facebook and Instagram Page.

Please be aware that if the Junior Competition needs to be cancelled due to inclement weather, it is done earlier than the Seniors, so schools can inform students before the end of the school day. If Juniors is called off, this does not necessarily mean Seniors is cancelled too.

Q. How long do the games go for?

A. Games run for 40 minutes (20 minutes halves).

Q. Am I able to register my child as an individual player?

A. Yes. Oztag helps place children individually into teams. We do our best to place your child into a team they will feel comfortable with, ie. with school mates.

Q. Does my childs school organise teams?

A. The following Primary Schools have teachers that organise teams at school, please look out for notices in newsletters and assemblies.  St Edwards, Oxley HS, Peel HS and Carinya however all players still need to register online or at the Sign Up Days.

All other schools students must organise their own teams.

Q. What divisions are available for my child to play in?

A. MIXED: U5/6 (MiNiTaG), 14 Yrs & Under; 16 Yrs & Under.

B. BOYS: 8 Yrs & Under; 10 Yrs & Under; 12 Yrs & Under

C. GIRLS: 8 Yrs & Under; 10 Yrs & Under; 12 Yrs & Under

Q. Will Semi & Grand Finals be played?

A. Finals are played in all Division’s from 8yrs and above.

MiNiTaG is non-competitive, so no scores are taken or points ladder kept.

Q. My child wants to play with friends that are OLDER can he/she do this

A. Yes

Q. My daughter wants to play in a boy’s team. Can she?

A. We do not encourage this, however as long as parents and the child are happy to do this we have no problem as long as consent is given.

Q. Who & What is a Delegate?

A. They are your Team & Our Team Contact. We have many parents that sign up as a delegate to help organize a team to pass on any game times or any relevant information concerning draws etc.

Q. Does Oztag provide Coaches?

A. Being a recreational sport, Oztag does not have coaches. We do however encourage parents to assist with substitutions so all players have equal game time.

Q. Will my child need to be graded?

A. Depending on team entries, Divisions will be graded by the committee based on Trial game results. Oztag is a recreational sport designed for children to make up teams so that they can play with their friends. We have teams made up from school class friends, winter sport teams (netball, Rugby league, Rugby Union, Soccer etc.) and from individuals signing up.

Q. Does my child need to attend training each week?

A. No training days are scheduled for players. It is up to individual teams to arrange their own training days if they choose to do so. The majority of team’s do not train at all.

Q. Is their Representative pathways in Oztag?

A. Yes. Trials are held each year, usually at the end of Term 1 for players interested in playing in their division at the following years State Cup to be held in February for both Boys and Girls divisions.

Squads are selected from 2 Trial Days, players are expected to attend at least 1 of these trials.

2022 Trial dates are still to be determined.
